student and teacherDr. Jessie Reppy Memorial Scholarship

Tell your colleagues! Encourage eligible students to apply for this scholarship of up to $2,500 to cover tuition during the Fall 2026 semester!

ELIGIBILITY:

The applicant must be:

  1. a full-time or part-time graduate student enrolled in an accredited ESL certificate program or Master’s program in education with a focus on teaching English as a second language at an accredited college in New Jersey
  2. a student who has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above
  3. a student who is enrolling is classes for the Fall of 2026
  4. a current member of NJTESOL/NJBE who is pursuing their degree in New Jersey

 

Notes:

The funds will be sent to your university and may only be used to pay for unreimbursed tuition and fees. If your full tuition and fees are reimbursed by your employer, you are not eligible for the award.

A successful candidate who has received this scholarship may reapply for a second year if they meet the eligibility requirements above.

DEADLINE:

All sections of the award applications must be received on or before March 15, 2026.
No incomplete or late applications will be considered.

WRITING:

(to be written and copied and pasted into the form below)

The content and composition of the biographical statement and essay must be exclusively yours with no editing by others. 

Biographical Statement: written by the applicant in 500 words or less and copied and pasted into the form below.  “Why do you think you should receive this scholarship?” Include a description of your work experience related to the field of teaching English as a second language and your reasons for choosing this field.

Essay: In 750 words or less explain, “Why is ESL certification essential for teachers who are working with English learners? “

All submissions will be reviewed for originality using a plagiarism and AI checker.

DOCUMENTS:

To be typed, scanned, or photographed to upload to the end of the form.

  1. Dr. Reppy Certification and Permission Form
  2. Current N.J. graduate school transcript or a transcript of previous academic studies
  3. Instructor’s/Professor’s Recommendation on a document to upload – Include:
    Student’s Name, School
    Teacher’s Name, Title, Cell Phone Number, and Email
    The reasons you would recommend your student for this award.
